RIM reporting / excel

RIM reporting / excel

Postby PartsDanager » Fri Mar 25, 2022 3:33 pm

One of the challenges I find working with Rim reports is the format doesn't translate to excel, and the columns are atrocious as laid out originally.

Anyone excel master in here that has found a way to have excel translate the data from RIM correctly?

Thanks!

Currently I'm working in 'stocking policy basic detail inquiry' and selecting part numbers in sequence in small enough parameters for the dinosaur to handle.

Importer Code: USA
Dealer Code: xxxxxxx
Part Number From: 1
Part Number To: 10000000
Stocking Policy by RIM: Y

Result Number of records found: 29
Importer Code Dealer Code Part Number Part Description On Hand On Order On Backorder SPQ
USA 1052626 CLEANER,ENG CYL/COMBUSTION CHMBR AEROSOL ACDELCO 13OZ 6 0 0 1
USA 1154607 KEY,DR LK 15 0 0 1
USA 2724577 SEAL KIT,A/C CMPR & CNDSR HOSE MANIF 3 0 0 0
USA 2724966 SEAL,A/C CMPR & CNDSR HOSE 0 0 0 0
USA 3041827 CORE,A/C REFRIG SERV VLV 3 0 0 1
USA 3530297 NUT,SECD AIR INJN PIPE 5 0 0 0
USA 3536966 SEAL,OIL PAN DRN PLUG(O RING) 38 20 20 157

this is a sample of a cross section of the report. can't copy paste because every bit of data goes in to one cell, and export to excel isn't an option. Even with the reports that have that function, GM often combines multiple datasets in to one cell i.e. on this having dealer code and part number run in to each other.

edit-dealer code retracted. i don't need random sprint requests :P

end game here:

As far as I can tell, once you've accepted RIMs initial management of a part, they will choose when to ship you lines on the part.
While you can make little edits after you see them release the order, it makes a lot more sense to be able to review that data prior to the order being placed. (partseye does this, and frankly I turn that inventory because I control it)
My questions end up revolving around BRP and days supply, or alternatively the phase in or out structure.

There has to be a reason GM inventory terms at 2/3 the rate it should and the dealer ends up with dead money. While incorrect CSOs can be a large part, constantly shuffling around parts costs money. Some of the parts that make it to my shelf would not make it there if I were analyzing the inventory using best practices.
