Key machine

Post by fxwgrider80 »

Small town GM dealer looking for new key machine. Old machine is PC+ edge cut that is just about
worn out. Need to upgrade to cut GM laser and edge cut keys. Can anyone give recommendations?
What you have? What works and easy to use that's affordable.

Thanks

We have a Kaba Ilco Futura NA sitting next to our old Barnes BD Lazer. We cut milled keys on the Ilco and side cut keys still on the BD lazer. We paid a little over $8000 for the Ilco back in 2015. You can cut side cut keys on the Ilco, but you have to cut one side at a time. Remove the key and turn over, then cut the other side. With the BD lazer it cuts both sides at once. No turning the key over. Hope this helps.

Make sure it will cut the new style GMC keys, we have to send out ours to the local locksmith. They have a bannana shaped head, will not fit in the jaw.

Are you speaking of the 13536165 for a 24 Sierra? We have a brand new mill cutting machine that they didn't teach us how to use.

I recently purchased a Keyline Gymkana 994 machine from the GM Equipment Store and found GM to have the best price through Keyline's OEM program. I spoke with Trisha in their OEM sales at 419-367-5887, she was very helpful and directed me to the GM website. I am very pleased with the Gymkana 994 and would recommend it to others.

~ gt hates cutting keys but the Gymkana makes cutting keys much easier !!

I have seen this on GM's Dealer Equipment page. Do they still offer the option to lease machines? I tried to make a case for getting a nice machine, however they are content ordering keys already cut.

Last post was removed.

Total Automotive sells the Gymkana 994 for less than GM Equipment Store. The GM Equipment Store is selling for $5978 and the price at Total is far less.

We got our new Gymkana 994 a week ago. A little time consuming
getting calibrated, but it works great. No changing jaws for edge cut, it will cut both sides
without flipping the key. It is saving us time.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Agreed on the set-up procedure, but didn't want to discourage someone from going with the Gymkana.

Day-to-day usage is a breeze.

You are most certainly welcome...
