U.P.S RESIDENTAL CHARGES ON STATEMENT

U.P.S RESIDENTAL CHARGES ON STATEMENT

Postby J.C. BOHL » Mon Aug 16, 1999 9:13 am

The past couple of months, I have been closely watching the charges on my UPS statements. Particularly the adjusted charges at the back of the statement. Some of the things found there are: Standard package changed to oversize, commercial del changed to residental, weight changes etc.
Sending packages to places that we don't normally ship to is hard to prove weather or not the business is operating out of their house or not. But this week I found shipment charges changed from commercial to residentual on two packages sent to the factory. One in Baltimore and One in California.
Calling customer service, I was told the charges would be removed immediately! My question was why were these charges there in the first place? I was told that if the driver leaves the package without a signature, he notates that it is a residental delivery.
Now think about this a minute. I know that the charge is only a$1.00 each pkg, but multiply $2.00 x all UPS customers X 12mo and this equals a lot of unearned money. They know that most people are not going to call about $2.00 and they will pull it off!
Be sure to check your UPS statements to make sure you aren't helping fill their banks.

I noticed the same thing on my bill also - commercial shipments being changed to residential - and was told basically the same thing, that they would credit the charge and that the driver is the one that denotes commercial or residential at the time of delivery. I had three on one invoice, two going to our largest audio supplier that we ship to almost daily.

U.P.S RESIDENTAL CHARGES ON STATEMENT

Hi All-
Last year we had a major problem with UPS also. While looking at my DOC I noticed that my freight bills had increased by approx $200. per month. As freight is one
of my pet peeves I went searching. I found that UPS had been charging us for another
shippers account. I went through all the bills and found that this had been happening
for over a year totalling over $1900.
What an ordeal I went through to get it back. They wanted to give me a credit to work
off! Can you imagine the account that got charged back for that?? TRUST NO ONE THAT CAN BILL YOU FOR SOMETHING THAT ENDS UP ON YOUR DOC!!!! CHECK EVERYTHING!!!!

I also have had a large increase in my ups bill. Always verify the address and zip code on your shipment. They charge $5.00 each package shipped that needs the address correction.
