I'm considering offering a fabric/paint protection in my finance office. If anyone out there is currently offering this product your assistance is needed. I need to know what would be a good price to charge for the protection, and what type of success you've had with it. I've heard of guys who are running between 60%-80% penetration. I also need to know how much penetration you have on used vehicles, who applies it, how much total cost is invested after labor and materials, and customer satisfaction. Any input would be greatly appriciated.

fabric and paint protection are great products to offer. Make sure the program you use is backed by a third party insurance company. Make sure it covers warranty liability. There are programs out there who claim to be insured but they only are covered for product liability. For both of these products together you can get $399-$499. Those are fair prices and well worth the investment for the consumer. A program we use is called ECP Auto Armor, they cover bleaches and dyes on the interior, They are the only ones I know of that cover those concerns. They also cover acid rain, bird droppings and tree sap on the exterior. They provide a certificate of insurance also. Make sure the program you use is a full repair warranty and not one that refunds money instead of paying the claim, or just re-applies product to the affected area. Auto Armor actually pays to have the vehicle repainted or the fabric replaced if a claim is submitted.

To gain strong penetration requires strong sales assistance, point of sale, etc from the supplier.

We have been supplying DCX their Master Shield products since 1981, Nissan Mexico as we as under our brand name, ValuGard to dealers.

A few dealers try to price way above fair value and then can't understand why they only sell a couple of packages a month.

If you wish, I can send you some information on what the successul dealer groups, such as the Serra Group sell for, what their program is.

Thanks for the tip guys. It helps me a little bit. However we are a used car dealership and I'm not sure if the product would have the same impact on used as it would new. If anyone has any input on strictly used vehicle success, please fill me in. Thanks again.

Take a look our site, under Warranty Products, at www.autoint.com

We have a used vehicle program.

A few years back, we had a national program for Hertz and their lots.

When they scaled back, shut down the lots, it was dropped. We are discussing restarting the program with them now.
