DealerTrack core discounts

Post by lstacy65 »

I posted this on the DealerTrack board but also wanted some of the lucky folks not on that DMS to chime in you want...
" Anybody else see on RO's where there is a core ON then Off where the service writer applies a discount and it discounts the price of the core, then when it is credited it's not discounted and taking the difference out of the gross " Thank you for any comments or advice. ( I have contacted DealerTrack and nobody there at whatever Starbucks they are at has heard of this.... )

I have shown this and other discounting problems on service ROs, but I have gotten no where with resolution.

I used to have the case number on my white board and bring it up from time to time, but nothing...

Does the RO ask you if whether to charge the core out when you bill the part or does it just do it?

If it asks, just stop charging the cores out when you can keep the empty box in the parts room. Tag the box so you know who has the core.

I know it's just a workaround but at least it won't cost you gross. Not your fault your DMS is fucked up.

Change the core price to $10,000 when you bill it out.

Solves all problems

It actually automatically adds the core when the part is charged out. When returned, you put a R in the box next to the core line and it adds a $-xx.00 below the core line. A wash right ? Not if there are discounts later. It discount the price of the core, but not the line that credits the core.

It would actually make it worse. It would discount the 10k core value but wouldn't discount the core credit on the next line. You have to see it to believe it ...

Don't expect a quick resolution from DT. If I recall this issue was occurring 5 years ago when I had DT.

Yeah that was what I figured. I like how they send me an email thanking me for finding out their issues and then forget about it.
