Certified service battery rebate

Post by GMpartsLux »

Hey guys, we currently inventory our batteries under the short delco number ex 48ps. The rebate that is in effect right now has a spot for an 8 digit part number. Does any one know if we can just put the short number on the form. Otherwise I need to think about changing how we inventory and sell our batteries.

At another place I worked we did the same thing, our batteries were inventoried by short number. What I did there was instead of the universal description "battery" I put the long number. So both numbers are on the invoice, namely because if someone is on the road and their battery goes bad they can go to any AC Delco Parts store with their receipt and get it warrantied because both numbers are on the receipt, also making it easier for the counterman at the parts store, and vice versa for a GM dealer. I am considering doing that at my present place too except the opposite by having the short number in the description.

we had all short numbers too - I ended up superceding them to the long numbers so we could still type the short number in but the long number would bill out - win/win

That's how I do my batteries and oil filters. Makes it a lot easier to remember when billing.

wouldn't the short number count against you on RIM?

Surprisingly no, GM does recognize the short numbers as well. Thanks for the ideas guys, I ended up putting the long number in the description.

Is there a list of known excluded #'s out there. I know what shows up on my daily report.

We use the long numbers, always have, mainly for warranty. Since they're not on the price discs I make the short number the description, 2.330 the group and DELCO for the detail so it sorts on my suggested orders
