dealer track auto parts replenishment

Post by dstewart291 »

i am not sure if i am doing something wrong here, i am trying to slowly adjust our stock orders for auto stock replenishment. currently the manager does not do "stock" orders only does special order parts and we tend to run out of high traffic used items, filters brakes etc.. so when i find parts as such i change (in dealer track) minimum to stock at 15 maximum at 30 for example and most time when it drops below the minimum they don't seem to show up on the stock order list of things being added to the order. not sure if i am missing something during the process of creating the order possibly or if i am setting parameters incorrectly.

If you are a RIM dealer, the parameters set in your DMS will have no bearing on what RIM suggest you to stock. If you want to increase stocking levels on a specific part, you will have to do that in RIM. However GM will only protect the inventory levels that they suggest you should be stocking, anything above what the suggest you own. But if it's fast moving items that you are selling out of it might not hurt to change the stocking level. Make sure that if you are out of something that you and everyone else in your dept. are recording lost sales. This will also help increase you inventory levels.

just a question and don't take this wrong are you responsible for the inventory? or are you just taking this task on? if one of my counter people did this on their own without consulting me i would have a big problem with it.

no you're good. i was brought on to take the manager position over as my manager is transitioning into fixed ops. he also does not manage the inventory very well may see some of my other posts. i have got with him about me managing the inventory and improving what i can to which he has no issue with due to the aforementioned reasons. i am trying to improve it all and do not get much assistance is like pulling teeth. but again he has given me free range to do and improve what i can and where i can, being i came from cdk i do no know dealertrack well and to answer the other point i am in a vw dealer no gm rim here. i just am trying to get replenishing stock on track since the majority of our fast moving parts are not re stocking themselves on daily stock orders as they should be to keep up appropriately stocked.

gotcha dealer track is horrible i would take the time and put all your fast movers in their own source and run a stock order on those parts and manually order them , mim/max seems to do nothing in dealertrash

I am sure it is a dealer track issue they need to set you up on abc sourcing but i am sure they won't have a clue as to what your talking about, they relay on dealers being on auto replenishment from the manufacturer
