Can a PF64 Substitute for a PF66?

Post by joecool17 »

Hello everyone. I have turned to this forum for guidance in recent years and have finally decided to create an account to join in on topics that plaque us. Received this from my DMA this morning.

To: Parts and Service Managers

We have 20,000 pieces shipping this week. Regional leadership advised that PF64F can be used if a dealer runs out of PF66.

I challenge anyone to go pull a PF64 and compare it to a PF66 (if you still have any). They are completely different sized. I have ordered some aftermarket from a local parts place to try to keep afloat as I am not going to hold my breath until I see any of these 20K.

Would have to weld it on the motor to get it to stop leaking :D

So as an update, I get a reply to use part#19391402 which is a UPF66R. Problem is no one including the PDC's has any. I reply that this will not work. I then get another reply of a locate report from OEC D2D. I call a local dealer that shows he has some stock, luckily he says he may spare a few "if he can" when I get to that point. I relay this information and get this "well hope you get some of the 20k pieces that are in transit before you run out".

I just did a cross reference on Champ labs site, which I was told some years ago was who made AC Delco filters, and the PF64 shows a 2.96" O.D. with a M22X1.5 I.D. I had to cross the PF66 to a Wix filter # WL10351, which shows a 2.96" O.D. with a 1"-16 thread

makes me laugh to say this but, Rock Auto has PF66 Delco filters in stock.... received a box of 48 from them yesterday. just for kicks I loaded a cart for 100 more and it didn't show any backorder. figures that GM would make sure they would keep rock stocked up before the dealers.

I'm curious, how much did they cost from Rock Auto?

*FYI* looking at them both, it is a clear difference in the I.D. (at the threads): UPF64 is .792 and PF66(and UPF66) is .922
