Oil Allocation

Post by Parts007 »

We were just told by our OEM Bulk Oil supplier that we are on allocation for ALL of our bulk product based upon previous purchases. They could not tell me what percentage that allocation would be nor how many days of product they stocked.

Has this affected you yet? If so, what are you doing ?

We are also allocated. I didnt see a huge drop in delivered quantity, usually 125 gallons where we would normally get 150.

We did get dangerously close to running out a few times, with a delivery date still a few days out...

Unfortunately we just had to get some cases of quarts from our ADI and eat the additional cost, which sucks, but as you know, we couldnt run out of oil.

not on allocation but it has been near impossible to get Mobil products , it has taken two weeks to get the Mobil lv/hp fluid for the eight speeds, and 5w30 Mobil1 is still on backorder

Check out your local Walmart or BJ's... They seem to have plenty of Mobil 1 products here in NJ... And the prices are pretty good.

I just found out yesterday per our Exxonmobil rep that our bulk oil supplier Lubetech has been held to a 85% allocation based off of month by month on the past year for the past several months however Lubetech has not been passing that rate along to us dealers yet with our bulk oil orders from them however we are now being reduced to 75% allocation of our weekly volume at a minimum going forward until further notice. My Lubetech rep told me that Lubetech has gotten into trouble with Exxonmobil for not enforcing an allocation to it's dealers so Exxonmobil has been starting to penalize Lubetech.
I found all this out yesterday because we did not receive our normal Friday morning bulk oil delivery from Lubetech and I run week to week using up everything that gets delivered each week. When our truck did not show up, I began making phone calls. It gets even better yet becuase of the fact that Lubetech did not get their rail cars in on time which they are blaming on Exxonmobil, maybe some form of the penalty or the blame game, I will not receive any bulk oil delivery until next Friday so what I am supposed to do going into next week with no oil when our bulk tanks will run out sometime late Monday or early Tuesday?

I've been buying the oil in quart bottles from my local ADI like C8RFAN mentioned, and just ate the cost difference. Pissed management off something awful, but I can't let the oil tanks run dry.

I'm trying to line up an alternate supplier, but it hasn't gone as smoothly as I had hoped.

I finally got my shipment of 0w20 this past Friday (10/29) only to learn that now 5w30 is on backorder.
