ok new twist to this "situation". i just found out that the plans for the parts department includes firing the current ford parts clerk, oh by the way he just completed all the training and is ford certified as manager, and replacing him with a young girl with no car sense or ability and she would only be there part time. we will be taking care of 9 techs and 2 1/2 service advisors,6 salespeople all wholesale and retail calls and walkup customers. all this while i would be learning the ford system all by myself. does anyone else see the stupidity in this decision? my first instinct is to pack my bags after they explain to me how they came to this decision and why they feel that this would work. i guess this is the old monkey and a keyboard mentality

Let me get this right. You will be the ONLY person in the department?? I consider myself to be a pretty damn good Ford partsman, but that's crazy! Doesn't sound like a ship I'd like to jump into. You would be burning MUCH midnight oil to get a grip.

I feel so bad for you that I would offer you a GM parts job. Sorry we're not hiring, as your situation s*cks. Maybe when you take that sick day next week thsy'll realize the error of their ways.

three words: get out now. sounds like there are huge problems within the department and that upper management has been ignoring them or is completely ignorant to fix-ops (last inventory 2 years ago? where's the controller and dealer principle?)

i had a brief meeting with the boss yesterday stating my concerns and giving him my view of the situation and he has agreed to keep the current partsman , making the department at least for the present fully staffed. at least he listened but i am still concerned that he didnt ask for my input before he made the original decision but for now i guess i am going to give it a shot. might be right or might be wrong ?????? there are still a lot of other decisions that have been made or havent been made that concern me

I wasn't going to say anything, but since you are going to stay, do yourself a big favor and refrain from calling the young lady a "girl".

Good luck!
