I agree, your warranty expenses have a lot to do with the parts scrapping. Every time that we get a little higher than our peers, our rep shows up at the door with a scrap list and spends 3 or 4 hours going over all of the parts not scrapped yet. We have had several, mostly due to the 4 wheel drive vehicles in the intermountain west area, which our peers do not have.
Our rep is very strick on anything not there or unaccounted for, and almost every time charges us back a few hundred dollars. The biggest challenge has been GMPP that has ended up being regular warranty and was not tagged and held.
I would say that they are just doing what they are supposed to do, but you must always be prepared - keep a scrap list of all parts, scrap on time so that you don't have anything extra, make sure not to scrap even 1 day early.
