We are on Rey Rey system. We have one (1) mobile tablet. Gm does not put the bar code on the doors so this system has a problem reading the bar code in sunlight. We can shade the windshield/bar code area and it works. One advisor can write the last 6 faster than fooling with the scanner. It has some real good features. The system is expense. If you are on Rey Rey, check on it and get a demo. It will speed up the lane and the advisor can just keep walking to the next car.

tablet is only as good as the appointment info put in to it. Rey Rey has a great concept, but if your advisor is trying to add a lot of info at the vehicle it is a challenge. By adding info i am talking about additional lines to the ro, change of address etc.... If your call center or appointment person gets it all in, the process is cool! If not, they make a nice desktop pc =(

Just my two cents.

My flush chemical provider just set me up with three tablets and needed hdwr, built menus into them with some interesting video presentations, walk around sheets the writer can check off etc.

Price was significantly better than the one from our DMS, and our chemical sales will pay the bill almost 100%, It's much more graphical for the customer to look at than the DMS and seems a lot less challenging to learn. Since it ties in with the DMS it should be a no brainer.

I agree with Mrbill, the originator of the appt can make things a lot easier at time of write up, affording the writer to sell more, as opposed to correcting data.

Might be worth your while to look into what your chemical guy, or maybe oil provider can do for you. Though admittedly, you will need to stand your ground regarding just how much they plug their product in the menu and walk around stuff. But do diligence will protect you there. Bring up the competition, get bids from them all and see what works best for you.

Just my experience.

i need to mention if you are on R&R, don't get the fujitsu tablets, they are first generation, get the Motion tablets. They have better screens, better docking etc...

4 of them a month runs appx 450.00 per month after the intitial huge setup fee!!!

tablets are a great concept but still need refinement!

Let me start with the fact that I work for Reynolds. My main focus is to provide information about what I know, and try to help you folks out the best I can.

parnotte,
If you are on ERA, contact your account manager. They can arrange a demonstration of the tablet for you.

mrbill_E,

I will agree that the motion tablets are the way to go. They provide a cleaner dock/undock process, and are much lighter and more responsive than previous versions used. They also have built-in bluetooth.

With the regards to a few of the comments regarding information input, there are a few things that I have personally found helpful when setting up and using the tablets. First, I typically set up several complaints in the ERA operations screen. This will allow the advisor to enter a "?" mark and get a list of default complaint statements. Additionally, have your folks set-up the user dictionary. I believe under the options tab, you can select "Bias user dictionary" setting. Doing this will allow the handwriting recognition software to pick up on a phrase that you might use more in your store.

You should also consider support when looking at tablet systems. If something goes wrong (hardware, software, integration, or connectivity) who fixes the issue?

I haven't had the opportunity to view the tablets you're speaking about flyboy, but I would like to in the near future.

You won't get 100% of the sales you don't ask for.
