Paying Techs for training

Hi all I was wondering what the standard was for paying techs for training. Im a Buick GMC dealer with 20 techs. You GM dealers out there know how tough GM is on training. We currently pay the tech for training- hands on, IDL, and web training. Just wanted to see if all dealer paid for this or not.

Yes, we pay the techs for training, as well as any expenses associated with it. We pay them their regular hourly rate.

I'd be surprised if anyone *didn't* pay their techs for training.....but that's what I said about safety inspections and, boy, was I surprised :-) :-)

We do it depending on the type of training-IDL's or Hands On, we pay the Tech what the make an hour. Web Based training=$25.00, and Test outs=$10.00-(ONLY IF THEY PASS), We have a form they fill out with the course number and what type of training ie..Web base, IDL, or Test outs. The Service manager then checks out the sheet and then has to approve the courses and sign off the list and issues the amount paid to the tech. Works very well, & I have NO grumbling or fussing about the pay or the sheet they have to fill out.

I also pay my techs their flat rate for the time the course indicates. 1hr = 1hr. If they go to hands on class, we pay 8.0 hrs @ fl/rt + motel, reasonable meals, mileage in their vehicle.
