LPO " parts "

I removed all LPOs completely from my parts department. The sales manager never kept up with getting them on our new vehicles and they got to where they were overrunning my stock room. Vehicles that were sold over a year ago still would have parts in my back room. Once LPOs are brought to my dealership I was instructed to take paperwork directly to a salesman that handled them. I moved them out to the shop and told sales that it's there problem to make sure they are kept up with and not mine since I'm not selling these parts. If they are missing parts or not keeping up with them it's in their hands and they are at fault. I took myself out of the equation completely.

this is a issue with our store also,we check in the parts, store them, control the paper work and its up to us to make sure the techs get them at pdi time.
and do all this for ZERO profit!

Exactly. I have enough on my plate already to deal with by myself that is one thing I didn't need causing grief in my department. I brought the idea up to my Service/parts director and he told me it was a golden idea. His words were " It is sales responsibility to make sure all these parts are installed on their vehicles. So they can make sure they are accurately getting their parts and if not can handle it themselves."

I am fortunate. I am not in the loop. I explained to those involved that I make no profit from LPOs and those who do, get all the responsibility. They agreed.

I'm not in favor of this program either but I try to make it work. Our sales staff does a very good job selling accessories so I try to help them.

We are just the opposite We love LPOs. We keep an excel spread sheet as they come. Tech signs off on sheet and gives us stock number of vehicle. We bill each
stock number as follows:
Wheel locks only $5.00
Combination orders with mats $10.00
Wheels and tire sets $25.00
Wheels tire and steps $35.00
Get added as LPO handling fee when the vehicle is sold. Damage claims can be fun sometimes, but if a hassle? Bill it to new car policy and drive on.

That's a great idea

Did you have any grief as you proposed this plan? I would love to have some type of handling/storage charge for the LPO's as they are a PITA to say the least.

That being said, I have just kept my mouth shut and dealt with the LPO's. Given my relative inexperience (I am 26) as a Parts Manager at a large dealer ($400k inventory), and have bloomed some great success with working with sales to move accessories, I would hate to rock the boat and loose that relationship with them.

My biggest problem with the LPO's right now, is our dealership had a massive renovation done, yet parts was pretty much untouched other than loosing some of our space to new service customer washrooms, and I don't have the space to have tens of sets of 22" LPO wheels.

No grief at all. Sales understands we can't handle this stuff for nothing. And our system for handling is almost bullitproof. All LPOs get put on. Well! Most of them. Small
price to pay to make sure they are all accounted for.

This is what you tell your GM(owner) that since you don't get paid for it you should at least be designated a Accessories Manager so you can reap the bonuses that the Accessories manager gets every month or at least every time they get the bonus, then you get it. The bonus is paid out for meeting monthly objectives. Earnpower baby
