GM Coolant on Warranty RO'S

GM Coolant on Warranty RO'S

Postby RLWOLF » Fri Mar 17, 2017 8:44 pm

Recently, GM is only paying us for a quart of coolant on warranty RO'S.
Part# 12346290 (1-gallon) cost = 8.75
Warranty is paying 2.19
Has anyone else had this happen?
I can't find any bulletins or information on this?
Check your warranty RO"S !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance.

All warranty repair orders? There's a recall for the shaft seal leaking on Cruzes. It only pays one gallon per four vehicles. You bill it out at cost divided by four and then mark that up your warranty %. I don't know what else it could be.

I just had one of these today myself. Let me preface this with a little history. We have recently been seeing claims for torque converter housing reseals on Cruzes paying short on the fluid. It seems that they don't pay to flush the cooler on that labor op even though you have to take the trans out to make the repairs. So I proceeded to investigate when a cooler should be flushed. All of the trans guys stated that the instructors tell you that any time a trans is removed it should be flushed. So I looked in SI and tried to determine it myself. I looked at the procedure for replacing the torque converter hsg gasket and it is in the section labeled "off the car repairs". This assumes the trans is out. Ok so lets find something very close to this operation. So I looked up Torque converter seal. The first step in the instructions tells you to follow the replace transmission instructions which is remove the trans. In the replace the transmission instructions is the only place that it mentions flushing the cooler that I could find anywhere. So as you can see both operations require removing the trans. When you run the torque converter housing labor op it does not require a trans flush code...Huh? So not being happy with the answers I found I called the DBC for a little clarification. The person on the other end tells me that the the system assumes a quart of fluid for the gallon part number and that I will have to up the quantity to 16 to get my 4 gallons. Huh? So I did just what he told me and the claim paid with my auth for the excess fluid. So I made sure and documented the reason I did it that way sighting the DBC case and everything. Sorry for the long wind but I feel this back story was important. Now back to the op's question. It appears to me that they are doing the same thing now with coolant. The claim that paid short on the water by pass we did only paid a 1/4 gallon. Well that may be fine that it assumes you will lose a 1/4 gallon when you do this operation, but the reason you are doing it is because it was leaking and is very likely to be low on coolant to start with. Thus the reason for the extra coolant. So I went in and adjusted the quantity to 4 and it paid without any authorization, Hmmmm? I'll let you draw your own conclusions!!!

Reference Number: GCUS-9-3783

Coolant Submitted on Global Warranty Management (GWM) Transactions
Attn: Parts and Service Management
Recently there was an uncommunicated change in the calculated reimbursement amount for coolant submitted on transactions, reimbursing a fractional amount based on quart (previously gallon) for each quantity of 1. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience in transaction submission you have experienced as a result of this change.
We are currently analyzing the most effective method for coolant reimbursement. Effective immediately, we have reverted back coolant reimbursement to gallon quantities while we further review this matter.
The following chart provides Global Warranty Management (GWM) reimbursement amounts per each quantity of 1 entered:
Please follow these general rules for submission of coolant on any GWM transaction:
• Only GM-approved coolant (DEX-COOL®) must be used when performing repairs covered by General Motors.
• Use a 50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable water and DEX-COOL coolant (or 50/50 Prediluted formula) unless otherwise instructed by GM.
• When using DEX-COOL concentrate, submit the quantity of coolant necessary, prior to diluting. For example, if the vehicle capacity is 8 qts (2 gallons), only 1 gallon of concentrate would be needed to fill the vehicle, and only a quantity of 1 should be submitted on the transaction.
• The part number submitted on the transaction must be based on the same part consumed. For example, if the technician uses DEX-COOL Concentrate that was ordered by the dealership in the 55 Gallon bulk packaging, then use GM Part Number 12378512.
• When using only a portion of a gallon, round UP to the nearest whole quantity. For example, if 1.4 gallons of DEX-COOL 50/50 Prediluted coolant (ordered by the dealer in single gallon quantity) is used for a repair, submit part number 12378390 and a quantity of 2.
• Do NOT submit coolant in NET. Coolant must be submitted in the PARTS section of a transaction, using the appropriate GM Part Number.
• Review of transactions shows instances where dealers have submitted excessive amounts of coolant based on the vehicle capacity. Excessive paid amounts are subject to chargeback. Therefore, please carefully document actual amounts of coolant used on the job card and ensure Warranty Administrators understand to enter no more than a quantity of 1 for each gallon of coolant used for the repair.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Someone changed it and hoped no-one would notice. Do you think they will go back and pay all the ones that they screwed everyone on :?: NOT A CHANCE
