A new level of low

A new level of low

Postby Lutom » Thu Aug 16, 2018 3:16 pm

So I just experienced a whole new way to get undercut by the General this week.

We got a convertible top pump for a 2015+ Corvette in with our Fedex shipment earlier this week. We didn't order it and it had an odd control number, so we figure PQC or TAC must have ordered it. No information available from parts workbench and no invoice, even after 2 days. SPAC is no help and can't determine where the order came from.

Then I get the story from one of our advisors. The aftermarket warranty company bought it direct from GM and had them drop ship it to us.

The icing on the cake came this morning. The advisor got a call from the warranty company on this order. The rep from the warranty company stated they got a call from GM this morning explaining to them that I had called SPAC last night asking about the origin of the part. So they get better communication from GM than we do too.

GM keeps setting the bar higher and higher for us, but they can just keep stabbing us in the back with impunity.

Put the part in the passenger seat, park the car outside, and tell the customer to come pick it up.

That would be a nice way to handle it but, the reality of it is that's not going to happen.

They better be giving you at least a 25% markup on that

Your service manager may need to get involved to make sure your parts department isn't getting screwed. Are the advisors there paid off of parts? If they are than it's also their problem.

That should not be allowed and if it is, it's because someone bent over and let it happen.

Think I'll head over to McDonald's after work, sit in the booth, and have Dominos deliver me a pizza.

Im sorry, but your pump keeps coming in on fed ex looking like its been smashed with a hammer :D

We had PTI, a railroad company do this to us a few times. I guess they are owned by some huge dealership in Illinois who thinks its ok to supply parts for its vehicles out of state. They would direct ship the parts from GM directly to us via fedex. We started charging more when they did this. In your situation I would hope that its a greedy dealer in the middle of your fiasco and not the general selling direct to an aftermarket warranty. Neither situation is good but the latter is just plain scary.

i'm not normally in the habit of defending General Motors, but it would be very unlikely that a warranty company would, or could buy a part directly from GM. It is possible that they purchased the part online from a site called GMPartsDirect, which is nothing more than a site that's owned by a Chevrolet dealer in North Carolina. Or they could have purchased it from any number of dealers that whore themselves out selling insurance and warranty companies parts for cheap.

Make sure you inform the customer that beings they do NOT have a receipt from a GM Dealer on this part that there is NO GM warranty.
Also let the Warranty company know there is a 25% handling charge to cover your cost of receiving and distribution. If they don't like it
let them know where the sun shines.
