Laser cutting keys

What are you using for cutting sidewinder keys? We have a key blank here 13536164, the plastic head (looks like a banana seat on a Schwinn Stingray bicycle) on the key will not allow it to sit true on the blank jig. Hopefully our local locksmith will be able to cut it. Software will not update, probably the entire machine is obsolete, BD Laser Max.
The hell with cutting keys, ready to let the locksmith handle them all or order pre-cut.

I was just going to start a fresh post and saw this post. We don't have a laser cut machine and we've received 3 coded laser cuts keys miscut in the last two months. I don't know what to do about it because GM or the ship-direct supplier Strattec is not doing anything about it.

We have the Futura Pro NA here and we have not had a key yet that we couldn't cut. Yes, even those goofy Suburban/Tahoe keys.

Not sure about the newer Suburban, will take a look. it's a 2022 GMC Yukon Look in Light Truck, 2022 GMC 2187 group, at the bottom is part number 13536164 Look at the illustration, you can barely see the outline where it curves around on itself like a banana.
Yes looking at the catalog, it lists this key for the new Suburban.

Try a Customer Exception Claim, Damage/Other Return, Part Defective Impedes the Normal Function The more information in notes, the better. I would let your DMA know what issues you are having
You know what their answer is going to be, buy/lease a $9,000 key cutter.

We order all of ours pre-cut. Thankfully, no issues yet, but appreciate the heads-up on mis-cuts from the vendor!

We use the Futura Pro. It has some quirks, as it is made in Italy. However, with a little finagling we have been able to cut everything. I even cut the key that you are talking about just this morning.

Check out current pricing on Futura ‘Auto’. Has some issues decoding side cut keys, but does all we need it to do. Decodes and cuts blade type keys. As a GM dealer, we have cut several keys for the Ford store across the street from us.

Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the more expensive machine, but we don’t need them.

We got ours for around $3200.00 just short of two years ago. Can be ordered right through GM Dealer Equipment site.

Side note: It does not use ‘laser’ system.

I will, thanks. Asked the locksmith what they use and got the deer in the headlights look. About as sharp as the eraser on end of a pencil.
