GROWING LIST OF NON-RIM MANAGED PARTS

Post by PartScott »

Why does the RIM program still exist? :x It is getting to the point where I feel the need to generate my daily stock order as I did in the days before "ream" was around. I could understand if they were parts that didn't sell, but c'mon guys. Timing chain kits for 2.4L ECOTECs, NOX sensors for DMAX trucks, the list of throttle bodies and/or throttle position sensor kits for numerous vehicles, pretty much ANY recall part...I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I find myself checking on a daily basis, making sure that I order when sold. Am I the only one that feels this way? Is there light at the end of this tunnel (and if so, is it a train)? /rant off.

What about you guys and gals...do you have a list of parts that you check on the regular, or a system in place to ensure you aren't explaining to your techs/advisors/customers why you don't have any of these common items when they come looking for them? Share with the class. :D

Yes I agree. The amount of service lane common parts that are Non-Rim is ridiculous.
I setup any part that is Non-Rim that I stock with a mark in Bin Location 2 in my DMS and I run that Bin Location everyday when I do my daily stock checks.
Anything that is showing QOH 0 I reorder. :x

I have a list of parts I check every day before the order has to be in.

I am a very small dealer on ADP/CDK and I made a report that shows me what stocking parts I have that are not RIM replenished. Everyday I run this before I put my order in and it is usually 4 to 4 1/2 pages long and appears to be growing every month.

I do similar... put them into a different source and run a stock order once or twice a week for that source.

works for me.

~ gt sells plenty of these parts to other GM dealers cuz we have them on the shelf

I have them set up with a secondary bin of NONRIM that I run everyday to check. I still have a problem with GM not helping us with these parts after the demand falls off. Why should we have to use our measly 1% return reserve toward returning them. I have discussed this with my Rep., but now she is being sent to another state so it will fall off the radar if it hasn't already.

I also put parts that are not RIM controlled in a separate source (GM parts are 100's and I use 110) and had CDK set up a daily sales report on this source. So I check the report every day and order as needed. Also those RIM parts that we always sell in multiples but RIM logic says we should stock 1, I put in this source as well.

I run a daily stock order even though I'm on RIM.

There is not much to order and it usually consists of recall parts and accessories.

The fact that I have to run it daily to cover my ass is P A T H E T I C.
